Spotting Wildlife

Throughout our travels in Costa Rica, my group has come upon many animals. Some are familiar to species we know in the States. However, I do not think I have ever seen as many monkeys here as I have back home!

Humming birds flock to their feeders at the Cloud Forest. Pictured above is one of the prettiest species I saw that day.

But humming birds are not the only animals that enjoy the sugar water in feeders. This animal is similar to our raccoons. They are always where they should not be.

Howler monkeys are a common sight in the jungle or on the streets of Costa Rica. Luckily this one did not throw feces at me, as the monkeys are known for being protective of their territory.

At a near by national monument, our guide spotted this owl. Apparently, our tour group has had some of the best luck with wildlife appearances.

Again, another monkey. This one was found by the beach. The howls can be heard for miles away, thus giving it an accurate name; Howler Monkey.
Okay, so not a real "animal" but Truman the Mizzou Tiger has had his fair share of photo opportunities wherever our tours have taken us.
