Climbing to New Heights

It took 60-80 years of growth in the Monteverde forrest for this strangler fig tree to reach its intimidating height! Only 2 percent of sunlight will reach the forrest floor therefore the tree has high odds to overcome to grow to full height.

Climbing inside the fig tree was a great experience! Many animals also find shelter in the hollow inside of the tree and feed off of the fig fruits. Luckily I did not run into any other animals while inside the tree.

The internal view of a fig tree. The vines allow for an easier accent into the tree. The view from the top was worth the climb!
