Which came first, the chicken or the egg? In Vietnam both the chicken and egg are
equally important parts of the local diet. Our group had the opportunity to
explore all aspects of the Vietnamese poultry from farm to egg. We toured local
egg and meat production farms and then visited Vietnam’s top egg production facility.
The company is owned by a female, a unique aspect to the
facility. Eggs are produced from more than 200 subcontracted farmers. The eggs
are then delivered to the factory where they are processed, inspected and
packaged. Egg types range from duck eggs to traditional chicken eggs. Duck eggs
are more nutritious than chicken eggs but lack the popularity.
No matter if you prefer scrambled or sunny side up, when you
enjoy a Vietnamese egg you are experiencing a taste of Southeast Asian culture.
That's a lot of eggs!
In tour gear!
Processing workers package eggs daily.
