Costa Rica has a growing whole foods and health foods industry. One day on our trip, our group found a local farmer's market. The market reminded me of our farmer's stalls back home. Once a month at the University of Missouri local farmers bring their produce to campus. Often I have brought a watermelon or homemade baked goods back to my dorm room. However, at the Costa Rican farmer's market you will find fresh bananas, honey, pineapple and many exotic foods. Finding this farmer's market was an excellent opportunity to compare agriculture production. I also enjoyed purchasing fresh, exotic fruits!
